Players who are still not signed in the trading market!

Basketball

1. Malcolm Brogdon

He is 32 years old and in his twilight years, but brings enough cargo to serve as a quality backup point guard or emergency starter for some teams. Contenders with a demand for the backcourt are wise to kick the tires, because Brogdon is stable, not reckless. He performed well with the Wizards in Rebuild last season (12.7 points, 4 assists), and his leadership abilities are valued. It would be a surprise if he was still on the market at the start of the camp.

2. Josh Gidey

There is always a red flag when a restricted free agent does not reach an agreement with his current team or does not receive a quality offer from another team. Either Gidey’s asking price is too high for Chicago, or potential diggers aren’t sure they can get him, as the Bulls will only match and keep him. Giddy showed some value in her first season with the Bulls, with an average of 14-8-7. The question is whether Gidey’s value is around $30 million per season. At some point there will be a deal because someone, both the Bulls and Gidey, will succumb.

3. Quentin Grimes

All the noise last season was concentrated on Luca Doncic's departure from the Mavericks, but the less well-known defection was that Grimes went to Philadelphia from Dallas. Once arrived, he was excellent, averaging 21.9 points per game, which sparked doubts about the Mavericks giving him up, especially given their backcourt needs. Their losses are the gains of Philadelphia. Of course, despite the small workload, Grimes' asking price as a restricted free agent also rose sharply.

4. Al Horford

Horford is at the stage of his career, and family and comfort are more important than money; he has made a lot of money. Once the Celtics thought he was too expensive and bailed him, Horford was placed in a position to decide which team and city would best suit his situation. Any team looking for a stretching big man will love having him, partly because he can still make a difference in limited play time, partly because he will definitely be cheap. The Warriors are interested, but San Francisco is far from his home in Boston and Miami.

5. Jonathan Kumingga

The restricted free agent may be more willing to change the environment, even if it is just because his playing time and position under Steve Cole seem to be very unstable. But so far, no other team has made a big offer. Kuminga is obviously a rising striker, and his best years are right ahead. It's just about his asking price and whether the Warriors agree to sign and deal, or whether Cuminga chooses an unlikely option and stay in Golden State for another season before checking the market again next summer.

7. Chris Paul

He is 40 years old and is more capable of being a substitute. The good news is that Paul played all 82 games for the Spurs last season and looked healthy and had an open mind. He is another long-time veteran who has deposited his generations of wealth in the bank and would rather be close to his family and the city he wants to live in. All signs are that Paul will be in Los Angeles next season; as for which team, that's still open. The more romantic option is the Clippers, where he can retire with the team he once promoted.

8. Gary Payton II

Any team seeking defensive help will consider this Glove Son, who will most likely not return to the Warriors next season. Payton is older than you think (32 years old), but still has elasticity. He was one of the few free agents to fall into a late summer funding crunch when the team ran out of cash and began looking for cheap purchases. Payton made $9 million last season and will likely remain within that range. He will be on someone's list this fall; it's just a matter of location and time.

9. Cam Thomas

The certified scorer (averages 24.0 points last season) and the Nets' restricted free agent are looking for his first big payday. He is obviously far from Brooklyn in negotiations; otherwise he would have been signed now. He and Kumingga seem to be a combination, so maybe when one signs, the other will follow up soon. For Thomas, everything is about price and value, not more or less.

10. Russell Westbrook

He is the least known person in the free agent market. Some teams still believe he can contribute, others believe he has done it. Westbrook's last three stops (Lakes, Clippers, Nuggets) are all competitors, and they all refuse to let him come back, which is not entirely a vote of confidence. His jump shot was never a strong point and is now a serious burden as the opponent's defense gives him enough shot space and encourages him to do so. Plus, he can become a turnaround machine. But Lars still has his motivation even in decline. This might give him a look.
