May 26th According to TheAthletic, Newcastle did not exercise Callum Wilson's contract option and they are discussing a new contract.

It is reported that Newcastle decided not to implement Wilson's contract extension option and has begun negotiations on a more motivating new contract. The 33-year-old striker will decide whether to stay at St James Park after his existing contract expires in late June.

Wilson has made 129 appearances for the club since joining from Bournemouth in 2020, but he mainly plays as a substitute this season, and he often replaces the outstanding performance Isaac. Isaac scored 23 goals in the Premier League and 27 goals in all matches. Wilson failed to score in 18 league games this season, and he scored 9 goals in 20 games in the 2023-24 season. The previous season even became the fifth scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals and helped the team qualify for the Champions League.

Wilson seemed a little excited after Newcastle lost 0-1 to Everton at home on Sunday. He was alone and was cheered by Newcastle fans.

Wilson said about Wilson's future, Eddie Howe said: "Let's wait and see, we'll sit down and talk with his agent. Wilson has been an outstanding player in Newcastle and he embodies the spirit of leading us to where we are today."

Wilson missed 14 games with back and hamstring injuries at the beginning of the 2024-25 season and did not make the roster for the first time until November. He made a substitute in the British League Cup final in March, helping the team win Liverpool 2-1, winning the club's first important trophy in 70 years. Despite Newcastle losing to Everton in the final Premier League round, they still qualify for the Champions League next season, as Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest lost to Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, Newcastle finished fifth in the Premier League.
