Sun: Manchester United is preparing to dig out former Chelsea scouts, who have discovered youth training such as James and Mount

On May 4, The Sun reported that Manchester United is preparing to poach former Chelsea scout Jim Fraser.

Jim Fraser was fired last year after serving Chelsea for twenty years. Now his no-compete period is about to end, and Manchester United is expected to become its new owner.

Although Manchester United is cutting about 200 logistics positions and firing multiple scouts, minority shareholder Jim Ratcliff regards Fraser as a key signing to help the club recruit future young talents.

This expert, who was once the Chelsea youth training supervisor, is famous for discovering young talents. The players he has discovered include Mount, Gallagher, Rees James and Abraham, as well as Guy, Colville and Solank, which is highly consistent with the "training rather than sky-high signing" strategy advocated by Ratcliff.

Manchester United's reform curtain has begun, and senior executives such as football operations director David Harrison have left office one after another. The club's management originally planned to postpone the news of large-scale layoffs until the end of this season. The one-month full-staff assessment completed a few weeks ago involved a team of senior scouts. Several staff members underwent job reviews, but senior officials are worried that announcing the layoffs at a critical stage of the UEFA Cup will hurt morale.
