Hupu reported on October 24 that 40-year-old England goalkeeper Scott Carson announced his retirement.

The goalkeeper made 11 appearances for Liverpool and Manchester City and won 11 trophies, including two Champions League titles.

Carson joined the Leeds United youth academy in 2002 and made his first appearance for Leeds United in February 2004 against Manchester United.

In January 2005, he moved to Liverpool for a transfer fee of 750,000 pounds and was selected for the England national team later that year. He made nine appearances for Liverpool, including a Champions League quarter-final victory over Juventus in April 2005.

After that, he was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa for several consecutive seasons to gain experience.

After the 2007-08 season, he ended his loan period at Aston Villa and returned to Liverpool. In July 2008, he joined West Bromwich Albion for a transfer fee of 3.25 million pounds.

In 2011, he moved to the Turkish Bursaspor team. After two years in Türkiye, he returned to England and joined Wigan Athletic until joining Derby County in 2015.

In August 2019, Carson joined the defending Premier League champion Manchester City on loan to provide a substitute for Ederson and Claudio Bravo. In 2021, he officially signed with Manchester City.

Carson made his first appearance for the England U21 national team in February 2004, and subsequently set a record of 29 appearances for the U21 national team. After the 2007 European U21 Championship, Carson made his first appearance for the England senior team in November 2007 against Austria.

Carson has played a total of 260 British Championship games and 146 Premier League games in his career.
