Mirror: If Frank leaves the team, Brentford sees McKenna as his replacement

Football

June 8, British media Mirror reported that Brentford coach Thomas Frank became a favorite to replace Postkoglu to coach Tottenham, and Brentford regarded McKenna as a replacement.

On Friday night local time, Tottenham Hotspur announced the dismissal of head coach Postkoglu. The Mirror report confirmed that Frank has become Tottenham's top choice for the Postkoglu replacement because of his impressive coaching record with other teams.

If Frank does leave the team, Brentford is ready to poach McKenna from relegated Ipswich. Despite Ipswich's relegation from the Premier League last season, McKenna, 39, is still regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in English football, and Brentford will give the coach an opportunity to return to the Premier League immediately.

Last summer, McKenna led Ipswich to the Premier League and successfully advanced for two consecutive seasons, which also aroused the interest of some top Premier League clubs. But he eventually chose to stay in Ipswich and signed a contract to 2028, which contained a significant termination clause.

In addition, the Mirror pointed out that if Tottenham wants to terminate the contract between Brentford and Frank, it will need to pay a huge termination fee of about 10 million pounds. When signing a new contract with Frank in 2022, the club added a high buyout clause.
