Manchester City will close a compelling deal on July 25 - signing goalkeeper James Trafford back. In 2023, Manchester City sent the potential star to Burnley with an initial transfer fee of 15 million pounds. Now Trafford has once again become the focus of the transfer market with his amazing performance in the Championship.

Last season, Trafford shined in the English Championship. He tied England's first four-tier league record for a single season with 29 clean sheets, helping Burnley to return to the Premier League with only 16 goals in 46 games. Its outstanding performance attracted the attention of many wealthy families, and Newcastle United is one of them. This summer, Newcastle actively seeks to buy Trafford, hoping to introduce strong aid to No. 1 goalkeeper Nick Pope.

However, Manchester City quickly stepped in. According to the matching rights clause in the contract when Trafford left the team, Manchester City decisively matched Newcastle's quotation of 27 million pounds and successfully intercepted the rude. Faced with the choice, Trafford rejected Newcastle and happily agreed to sign a five-year contract with Manchester City with a one-year renewal option. After the deal is completed, Manchester City will only pay an additional £13 million to welcome the former youth training treasure.

At the same time, Manchester City goalkeeper Ortega triggered new transfer dynamics. Burnley and Leicester City both showed great interest in it. Ortega is mostly a substitute at Manchester City, and his pick in the team may fall further with Trafford returning, which prompted both teams to actively push for transfers. Looking back at Trafford's football career, he played in the midfield for Carlisle United youth team in his early years, and later transferred to Manchester City's youth training system, making 23 appearances for teams at all levels. At the beginning of his career, he experienced many loan experiences. Although he played in Ackerlington Stanley, he made his mark in Bolton Rangers and maintained a clean sheet in the first 4 games. Now, Trafford is about to return to Manchester City. Under Guardiola, he is expected to compete fiercely with Ederson to guard the goal for the team and continue to write a brilliant chapter.
