Kevin De Bruyne slams Manchester City after contract is slapped

After a win against Wolves on Friday night, Kevin De Bruyne slammed Manchester City executives again, who thought he was not worthy of a new contract.

De Bruyne publicly confirmed in early April that this will be his last season at Manchester City. The increasingly vulnerable 33-year-old has since revealed that he wants to stay in Etihad, with head coach Guardiola and athletic director Tiksic Begiristan deciding to part ways.

Since the announcement of De Bruyne's departure, he has scored two goals in five games and created one, including the only goal in a narrow 1-0 win over Wolves on Friday night. “I proved that I can still play here (in the Premier League) or I wouldn’t do what I’ve done in the last four or five weeks,” De Bruyne pointed out sharply after his penultimate home game for Manchester City’s jersey.

"Obviously I know I have one game left here (in Etihad), but I just try to do my job as I have always done, and I did it today, so I am proud of what I have done." I gave everything and I want to win the game. There is no shortage of interest in this soon-to-be free agent. Major League Soccer team Chicago Flames are considered a favorite to snap up his favorite, but De Bruyne insists he will consider joining another Premier League club.

When De Bruyne made a brief comment to Guardiola on Friday night, he expressed sympathy for the longest-time player at the moment. “I believe it wasn’t easy for him, but his contribution was huge and important,” the Catalan coach admitted. "He doesn't need to prove anything, I know his ability and level. That's it.

"He has always been an incredible player, but that's the case," Guardiola continued. "It's almost impossible to change such a player. It's not just a performance, it's what he means to our fans for years. Our success belongs to the players.
