Official: Espanyol coach Manolo Gonzalez renews contract until 2027
The announcement is as follows:
Espanyol and Manolo Gonzalez have reached an agreement to extend the coach's contract to June 30, 2027. The club trusts Manolo Gonzalez, who joined the Espanyol coaching echelon in the summer of 2023 and will continue to take charge of the first team.
Manolo Gonzalez consolidated his position in the top professional football league through this contract renewal after a long coaching career in different leagues. The contract renewal takes effect after the team ensures successful relegation.
Manolo Gonzalez replaced Luis Miguel Remis in March 2024 to take charge of the Espanyol first team. Manolo Gonzalez defeated Zaragoza 1-0 away in his debut. That season, the team defeated Real Oviedo in the upgrade play-off and successfully advanced to La Liga.
In the 2024-25 season, Manolo Gonzalez coached the top league for the first time. He led the team to successfully relegate, with a record of 11 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses (scoring 40 goals and conceding 51 goals).
