Forsberg: Messi is the greatest player in football history; Werner makes his own decision

Hupu, August 13, German Media Photo News exclusive interview with New York Red Bull core Forsberg.
You have been playing in the Major League Soccer for a year and a half. What kind of league is that?
Everything is possible here. There are a lot of show-off scenes around, but people are passionate about sports. Then the weather was bad too.
We have had to interrupt several games recently due to the storm. So, I learned one thing: in the United States, it rains so hard. When it's windy, the wind is really strong. As for sports, you have to say: this league is getting better and better. I feel it's getting more and more attractive to players.
Thomas Mueller transfers to the Vancouver White Caps. What do you think?
Thomas Mueller is really cool to come to the Major League Soccer! Vancouver is also a great city; he will have a great time there. It's a wonderful story for the entire league. Thomas is a legend in Germany; I remember that there were many fierce showdowns between him and Leipzig, and the American League can look forward to his arrival.
What kind of team is Vancouver? Do you think they can compete for the championship?
Of course, they are the favorites to win the championship. They already have a good team, and now Mueller joins them again; they have obviously secured a playoff spot. This is really great.
What do you think of Lionel Messi? Do you think some of the public opinion surrounding him is correct?
I think hype is hype, but he is a good person. He is the greatest player in football history and an absolute world superstar. We recently lost 1-5 to him and Miami International at home – the entire stadium was packed with Messi fans.
Have you received a call from Red Bull asking you to finally convince your former teammate Timo Werner to transfer to New York?
(laughs) I don't want to talk about this right now.
Red Bull issued a two-and-a-half-year contract. What advice do you have for him?
Of course, it would be nice for us if he came. I know his strength. But it is easier said than done, and everything will be better in the end. I hope he can make a decision that makes himself happy. Because he is an excellent person, an excellent player.
How close are you to your old boss, Leipzig?
Of course, very close. It can be said that this is my club. I still keep in touch with some players, like Kevin Kanpur and Pete (Peter Goulasi), and I still think Pitt is the best goalkeeper in the league. I'm very excited about the new season - a lot of them are new, new coaches, a young team.
