Trading Butler + Green? Swordsman Zero Layout for Warriors: Curry needs young people!

Basketball

On May 22, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas fired the Warriors again on his podcast show, and this time he aimed at the future of Golden State.

In the show, Arenas made it clear that the Warriors should leave and trade Dream Chasing - Green and Butler in time to create a younger and healthier lineup, and play the last chapter of his career around Curry.

sounds a bit radical? But if you think about it carefully, this is not completely worthless.

In the just-concluded playoffs, the Warriors fell again on the journey to the West. In the semi-finals of the division, he was eliminated in the Timberwolves. Curry missed 4 games due to a hamstring strain. Butler also brought injuries left over from the Rockets series and his condition was fluctuating.

On the high-intensity playoff stage, relying on three veterans over 35 is too risky. Green, Butler and Curry are no longer at the age of being at their peak. Once injuries occur, the entire team's system will be vulnerable.

But the problem is that the Warriors' management's idea is to maintain stability. According to several US media, the team still plans to build a team around Curry, Butler and Zhumeng Green next season, and will only fine-tune the role player lineup. There is even news that in order to better fit the three elders' style of play, the Warriors may have put potential star Kumingjia on the trading shelves.

As for such warriors, Arenas' attitude is very clear. He believes that Cuminga has begun to realize his potential. The Warriors should build a team around him and Curry, rather than sacrificing his growth space to cater to the elderly three old core members:

"Look at Curry's condition, he is not like 37 at all. Since Curry can still run and shoot, don't expect the other two 35-year-old veterans to drag him away. Let Cuminga partner with him and pair with a group of 23- or 24-year-old young people, after playing Curry's farewell tour, and then naturally transition to a new stage."

Alinas directly suggested that the Warriors can consider trading Butler and Zhu Meng Green to exchange for a young core with more room for development and enter the lightweight reconstruction mode in advance. Then Arenas also directly named several potential teams in the show:

"The Rockets lack defense, they need Butler, a veteran with rich experience and sufficient hardness in the playoffs. Jabarri Smith Jr. has not yet fulfilled his talent, and what the team lacks is a few experienced veterans. If the Thunder fails to win the championship this season, they may also want to introduce one or two veterans to help young players mature faster. There are a lot of young people in the Orlando Magic, and they need a stable outside brain and tough guy temperament. The Cavaliers also lack players like Butler who can have their own offensive abilities on the front line."

In short, from Arenas' perspective, he does not think Butler and Dream Green are veteran baggages that no one wants at all. On the contrary, in the eyes of some young teams, their star value may be further magnified. Of course, judging from the current attitude of the Warriors, they have no plans to trade Butler and Mengmeng Green for the time being, especially when Curry still hopes to maintain his competitiveness in the championship.

But the problem is that time is not forgiving. Once the three veterans really fall out and talk about the Warriors' future, it will be too late. Arenas's speech seems radical, but it is actually a reminder. Don't just think about the feelings in front of you. Curry deserves a more future stage.

From the perspective of fans, what do you think? Do you support the Warriors' trades with Butler and Green? Do you hope Curry will actively win the championship in the last few years or make a smooth transition?
