Knicks rumors: Bill Simmons proposes Kevin Durant s deal plan

Basketball

Bill Simmons proposed a deal where the Knicks will get Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, but the deal also includes Carl Anthony Towns. After the New York Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the sixth game in the Eastern Conference Finals, the focus is now on how to analyze how they can make progress in the offseason. The Knicks are already plagued by rumors, and Bill Simmons may come up with an interesting deal that will surely make fans confused.

His deal revolves around star Carl Anthony Towns, who may say it is a one-on-one deal, and Towns will be sent to the Phoenix Suns for forward Kevin Durant. Simmons will point to the connection between Towns and Suns guard Devin Booker and the reason they "knowed since childhood."

"I'll give you an idea, Downs for Durant," Simmons said on his show of the same name. "I think Durant has one more year contract, but you can renew his contract. The salary is actually one-to-one. If you remember, there is a deep friendship between Towns and Booker. They seem to have known each other since childhood and are both the same agent. I remember we heard this on The Ringer in 2019. Towns, Booker and Russell all wanted to do podcasts together, and they all lived in different places, and we thought it was impossible. Now we have the skills."

Bill Simmons further explained how the Knicks got Kevin Durant.

Although fans have proposed some trading plans for Knicks star Downs, this deal has brought top players like Durant, which is understandable even though Durant is already in his twilight years of his career. Simmons believes that this is almost a win-win situation for both teams: Phoenix gets an efficient player like Towns, and the New York Knicks get an influential player like Durant.

"If they don't have a player like Durant and you're the Suns, you have little room for improvement," Simmons said. "If Booker likes Towns and I think they are still good friends now, is that considered getting rid of Durant's trouble? If you are the Knicks, you have a year to work with Durant. You can convince Mitchell Robinson to play 30 minutes per game. That way you don't have to worry about Towns' defense, you sold the team at a high price. You got rid of Randall, got rid of Towns, and signed this big contract."

Last season, Towns averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his first season with the Knicks, shooting 52.6% from the field and 42% from three-pointers. Towns' performance remains to be seen, but New York looks like it's improved after losing to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
