June 18th News Dezhangtai Murray recently talked about his personal affairs in his first year with the Pelicans on a podcast program.

Murray said: "Someone was fired, and then someone left, and then they recruited new people. There were always all kinds of problems around me, I had a broken hand, and I recovered. My mom had a stroke, my cousin was killed, my uncle overdoses. Everything happened one after another, I was overwhelmed. But during this period, I couldn't get any support from the Pelicans. You can imagine how I was in my mental state at that time, I was stressed, I was angry every day, I was sad and angry, I didn't want to stay there anymore. It was crazy, and since the day I tore my Achilles tendon, all of these things have been hard for me to accept."

In 2023, Murray signed a four-year, $114 million contract with the Hawks. In the offseason last year, the Pelicans used Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, Liddle, Cody Zeller, the first round from the Lakers in 2025, and the first round with the lower center pick in 2027, to get Murray from the Hawks. But in the season opening game, Murray suffered a fracture in his left hand and missed 17 games. Then on November 28, 2024, Dezhangtai Murray completed his comeback against the Raptors, but after he played in 30 games, Dezhangtai Murray suffered a torn Achilles tendon and was reimbursed for the season. Murray played 31 games for the Pelicans, averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2 steals per game, shooting percentage of 39.3% and three-point shooting percentage of 29.9%.
