Hupu News on November 12th: The Wolves officially announced that Rob Edwards will be the new coach of the Wolves, and the two parties have signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. Rob Edwards played for Wolves and served as first-team coach, interim coach and U23 coach after retiring.

The official announcement is as follows:

Rob Edwards becomes the new head coach of the Wolves, and the two parties signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. This is the fourth time in his career that he has been associated with this club.

The former Wolves defender has performed well in the coaching field in recent years: he has led Flint Town Green Rovers and Luton Town to successful promotion (the latter even entered the Premier League). During this season's coaching of Middlesbrough, he also made a good start in the English Championship.

Edwards was born in Telford, and his relationship with Wolves began in 2004. He made 111 appearances over four seasons, most notably at centre-back under Mick McCarthy.

This player, who has represented the Welsh team 15 times, also played for Blackpool (promoted to the Premier League as a player with the team) and Barnsley later in his career. In 2014, he started his coaching career in the Wolves U18 echelon.

Less than a year later, he was appointed first-team coach under Kenny Jackett; in October 2016, he took charge of two first-team games as interim manager after Walter Zenga left Molineux.

After coaching Etford United for his first experience as an adult team coach, Edwards returned to Wolves again as the head coach of the U23 echelon, and led the team to advance to the highest level of youth football for the first time.

After that, he worked in the Football Association; in 2022, he led the Flint Town Green Rangers to win the English League Two championship and won the first championship trophy in the adult team coaching career; then he briefly coached Watford.

In May 2023, Edwards led Luton Town to successfully advance to the Premier League through the Championship promotion play-offs. He set foot on the Premier League coaching field for the first time and won widespread praise in the top league.

Now, with the excellent start of coaching Middlesbrough this season (the team ranked second in the Championship when he left), Edwards has returned to the Wolves.

Shi Yu said: "I know Rob very well and have witnessed his growth in different positions. He is a man of integrity, knows the club, the city and the fans well, and has great coaching talent. When he was the youth team coach here, he showed excellent tactical insight; and in coaching After taking charge of the first team, he gradually developed his own coaching style, personality and leadership. "

"We need a new coach's philosophy to inject vitality into the entire club, bring his unique style and ideas, and build on this foundation. The club is entering a new chapter, and Rob will be a key part of it. "

Matt Jackson said: "Rob and his coaching team have previously proven that they are good at reshaping the team culture, quickly improving player confidence, and laying the foundation for the team's bright future. He loves to go to the training ground to guide the team, is good at adjusting tactics according to different situations, and actively responds to various challenges."

"He is off the court. The energy shown must be transferred to the court. We must look at the current situation of the team objectively and clarify our responsibilities. Now we need to build confidence in the players as soon as possible. I believe that Rob will have a positive impact on the cultural construction of the entire club."

Harry Watling will join Edwards as an assistant coach. Watling has been working in the youth training field for nine years. Last year, he coached Hartford Athletic in the United States and Ebbsfleet United in England, accumulating experience in coaching the adult team, and then joined Edwards' Middlesbrough coaching team. More members of the logistics team will be announced in the near future.
