West Ham official: He will no longer renew his contract with Antonio, and will continue to help him recover + arrange his work

Hupu, August 7th, West Ham United officially confirmed that Mikel Antonio's contract expired at the end of last season and he will not renew his first-team player contract with the club.

The 35-year-old striker transferred from Nottingham Forest to West Ham United in September 2015. He made 323 appearances in a decade, scored 83 goals, and became the club's Premier League top scorer. He also helped the team win the championship in the 2023 European League final in Prague, playing a key role in ending West Ham United's 43 years of waiting for important trophys. At the end of his first season with West Ham United, he won the second best player in the team for scoring a goal against Manchester United in May 2016.

A year later, he went to the next level and won the Player of the Year in West Ham's first season at London Stadium.

In December 2024, after being injured in a traffic accident, he showed extraordinary courage and determination, overcame serious injuries, and returned to the international arena in June this year, making a substitute in the Central and North American and Caribbean Golden Cup against Guatemala, playing for Jamaica.

Recently, he wore a West Ham United jersey and played for 45 minutes on behalf of our U21 Development Team in a friendly match against Bolham Wood, and scored twice, getting another chance to play.

Michael will always be a well-loved and respected member of the West Ham family. Since December last year, the club will continue to support and assist him in rehabilitation treatment and provide him with training, facilities and medical services if necessary.

Discussions about his future involvement in club affairs in other identities continue, including benefiting others from his experience and leadership, who will always occupy a special place in our 130-year history.
