TA: Villa midfielder Ramsey is 39 million pounds + 5 million difficult to achieve surcharge, joins Newcastle

The two clubs have agreed on an initial transfer fee of £39 million and an additional fee of £5 million, which are difficult to achieve. Ramsey will go to the Northeast for a medical examination on Thursday before completing the transfer.

Personal terms are being finalized and an agreement is expected to be reached within the next 24 hours.

Villa will participate in the UEFA Cup this season, and the sale of Ramsey is to help the club comply with UEFA's team cost rules (SCR) and football revenue rules (FER).

The England U21 midfielder's contract with Villa has entered his final 24 months and Newcastle United remains his preferred destination despite interest from other clubs such as West Ham United, according to TheAthletic.

Last January, Newcastle United negotiated with Villa with Bayern Munich on a £50 million transfer fee, and Bayern Munich also showed interest in the player. However, the midfielder eventually stayed with Villa because Villa was reluctant to sell him.

TheAthletic reported in July that Nottingham Forest had been interested in the 24-year-old, and Tottenham Hotspur also tried to sign Ramsey last summer but ultimately failed to reach a deal.
