Football

May 6th According to the Mirror, Rooney said in an interview that he did not expect Gerald and Lampard to be coaches after retirement.

It is reported that Rooney was surprised that Lampard and Gerrard transformed into coaches, and he once thought Carragher would coach. Rooney admitted he was surprised that Lampard and Gerrard chose to enter the coaching world after their brilliant careers.

The three former England national teammates all embarked on the coaching path after retirement, and Lampard began his coaching career in Derby County, which is where Rooney began his own coaching career. The former midfielder then coached twice at Chelsea and coached for one year at Everton. Currently, Lampard has returned to the Championship and coached the Premier League team Coventry. Liverpool legend Gerrard's coaching career is more diverse, with his first coaching in Scotland's Rangers and winning the Scottish Super League title in 2021. Afterwards, he coached Aston Villa and Saudi Arabia.

In evaluating his former teammate, Rooney said he did not expect Lampard or Gerald to be the coach. He also said unexpectedly that he thought Carragher would eventually become a coach.

In an interview, Rooney said: "To be honest, I think Carragher will become a coach because he has a lot of football knowledge. When we go out with England, you know everything about football. We all have some common sense of football, but Carragher's knowledge is incredible, dating back 40 years ago."

Regarding Rooney's statement, Liverpool legend Carragher quickly refused, saying: "I am a super football fan, but it doesn't necessarily mean I will become a good coach. I remember a lot of games and players. I used to read football magazines, and I am very obsessed with football. The coaches are also fascinated by football, which may be a good starting point for them. I am glad I didn't choose this path."

Carragher chose to be a football commentator and serve as a resident guest at Sky Sports. Rooney also provided some expert advice after encountering some setbacks in his coaching career. He was fired while coaching for two recent Championship jobs in Birmingham and Plymouth and has been unemployed since leaving the court in December.

Recent news that Rooney may switch to the League Two to revive his coaching career. Another former teammate, Tom Cleville, was also just fired by Watford due to poor performance at the end of the season.
