When Poulsen was sitting on the bench before the game, a grand golden TIFO appeared in the home stands: Leipzig fans depicted Poulsen's image in a golden silhouette and displayed many classic pictures of him during his twelve years at the club. In the 76th minute of the game, Poulsen came on as a substitute when the team was 1-2 behind, replacing Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer.

Poulsen joined Leipzig from Denmark in 2013 and accompanied the team from the German third division to the Champions League, becoming one of the most symbolic players in the club's history. Now after moving to Hamburg, he has not yet fully integrated into the new environment due to injury.
