Official: Muto Yaki undergoes surgery for lumbar foramen stenosis and will be absent for 3 months

May 23rd, Kobe Victory Ship issued an official announcement today, announcing that former Japanese international Muto Yaki, who played for the team, will be absent for three months due to injury.

The announcement reads: "My club midfielder Yaki Muto was diagnosed recently at a hospital in Tokushima Prefecture. The diagnosis results showed that the lumbar foramen stenosis. The player has undergone surgery in the hospital. The operation is very successful and it takes 3 months to fully recover."

Yaki Muto is 32 years old. He has played for three European teams, Mainz, Newcastle and Eibar. He ended his overseas study in August 2021 to join Kobe Victory Ship. Last season, he scored 13 goals and assisted 7 times in 37 J1 league games and was elected the MVP of the J1 league that season. He has only played 6 league games this season and has not yet received any goals or assists.
