Modric: Milan s lowest goal is to return to the Champions League, I m here to win the trophy

August 9th, this summer, Modric ended his legendary career in Real Madrid and came to Milan City with unfinished passion for football to start a new career. Recently, Modric was interviewed by DAZN.
■When you win so many trophies and are 39 years old, you still talk about your love for the game. Is this your secret?
"Yes, no doubt. That's why I'm looking for new challenges. I want to continue playing and competing at a high level, it's all because of my love for football. I still have passion and motivation. Maybe I could have made an easier choice to go to some leagues that aren't as competitive, but that's not me. I'm going to play at the highest level. When I can't do it anymore, I'll stop. But as I said, I feel good now, love the sport, passionate, motivation, and that's why I'm here."
■What do you want to bring to this team?
"I will play like I have been doing in my career, lending a helping hand when needed, bringing experience, a winner mentality, and helping my teammates and the team in all aspects."
■Why choose Milan?
"The main reason is the greatness of the club - it is one of the best teams in the world. This photo of me wearing Milan sportswear and taking photos with my parents when I was a child is a wonderful memory, which shows how popular Milan was in Croatia. I have been watching your league since I was a child. Milan was my favorite team when I was a child, especially because Boban - he was my idol. This is why I chose Milan. When I first came here to sign a contract, I immediately felt the special thing about the club, that great aura. Milan won 7 Champions Leagues, second only to Real Madrid, which says it all. Whether it is the club staff, fans or the stadium, everything is at the highest level."
■About Ancelotti, have you consulted him before joining?
"Yes, Ancelotti and I talked about Milan before signing, and his evaluation of Milan is all good. I knew this, but when someone like him who played and coached in Milan told you in person, the feeling will be clearer."
■You are the 13th Golden Globe winner in Milan's jersey, as famous as Van Basten, Gulit, Ronaldo, Baggio, Shevchenko, and Kaka. Do you think you are a legend?
"This is a great list (laughs). I prefer to let others judge whether I am a legend. I just know that I am very proud of my career achievements, even exceeding my original expectations."
■What is your new goal?
"Milan was only eighth last season and had to strive to return to the Champions League, which is the lowest goal. I came here to win the trophy, just like at Real Madrid, I will do my best. We need to create a good atmosphere and build a strong team, which will make everything easier."
■Talking about Leo
"He is definitely a world-class player. I have played with him many times, from clubs to national teams, you can see his strength at a glance."
■Did you wear No. 14 in your early years because of Cruyff?
"Yes, No. 14 is the first number in my career, and I also wore it when I was in Tottenham. Cruif gave No. 14 special meaning and was honored to wear it again."
■Memories of childhood in Italy
"When I was a child, I often came to Italy with the team to play the Youth Championship. I won the championship and won the best player in Alzano, which is a wonderful memory. Last time I played against Atlanta, they brought the jersey of that year, and I also gave them one of my jerseys."
■Talking about Serie A and Milan derby
"I The Italian team is of high quality, well organized and fierce competition. I have seen many Milan derbys and can't wait to experience it myself. Fighting with my fellow countryman Suci? Yes, he is very talented, but of course he can't perform too well against us! "
■The secret to the long-lasting career
" There is no secret, it's love and passion. Of course, diet and training are important. I live for football, and I revolve around it 24 hours a day. I still have dreams, which is why I came to Milan. Winning trophy is my goal, and family is always the most important thing."
