Marca: Barcelona s plan to return to the new Camp Nou postponed again as hidden dangers remain at the traffic entrance
October 8th According to "Marca", Barcelona's plan to return to the new Camp Nou stadium has been postponed again due to hidden dangers at the traffic entrance.
Due to traffic entrance problems, Barcelona has been unable to start the new season at the new Camp Nou stadium as planned in recent months. Initial problems resulted in two games being moved to the Johan Cruyff Stadium, against Valencia and Getafe.
City technicians have made it clear that they are unwilling to take any risks to season ticket holders and fans who come to watch the game. The club originally planned to reopen the stadium in Phase 1A, which would allow 27,000 spectators and open the stands and south goal area. However, without a permit, the team had to return to the Luis Comans Olympic Stadium.
Now, the Barcelona club has decided not to return to the new Camp Nou in the 1A phase. Matches against Girona and Olympiacos will be played again at the Montjuic Stadium after the national team break. During these weeks, the club will use the time without games to continue construction work, hoping to obtain permits as soon as possible to reopen the stadium in Phase 1B.
The finance department stated that the current revenue from matches with approximately 50,000 spectators at the Montjuic Stadium is equivalent to the revenue from the 27,000 spectators at the new Camp Nou. Therefore, in order to increase revenue by the end of the year and the beginning of 2026, it is necessary to advance the next phase of the license application. Phase 1B will include the wings as well as the previously mentioned stands and goal areas, and is expected to accommodate approximately 45,000 spectators. In the coming days, city technicians will be at the ballpark again to assess the progress of the project.
