Manchester United issue ultimatum to Casemiro

Football

According to British media reports, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim is willing to let Brazilian midfielder Casemiro stay with the team, but only if the latter accepts a significant salary cut.

Currently, Casemiro only has the last 12 months of his contract with Manchester United. The 33-year-old was once thought to be leaving Old Trafford this summer. However, under Amorim, he is making a strong comeback.

So far this season, Casemiro has started 9 of the 11 Premier League games and has become an indispensable core midfielder playing alongside Bruno Fernandez. One statistic is particularly eye-catching: Manchester United has conceded 20 goals in the league this season, and only 5 of them occurred when Casemiro came on the field - which fully reflects his important value to the team's defensive system.

British media pointed out that Amorim is open to renewing his contract with Casemiro. Although Manchester United's contract contains an option to automatically renew for one year, if this clause is activated, the club will still need to continue to pay his high salary of more than 300,000 pounds per week. Therefore, the Red Devils management and Amorim made it clear: If he wants to stay on the team, Casemiro must accept a salary cut - this is a key prerequisite for contract renewal.

Although the final decision has not yet been made, the signals released by both parties indicate that as long as Casemiro is willing to make concessions on salary, it is entirely possible for him to stay at Old Trafford and join the new team plan led by Amorin.

With his recent recovery and rich experience in top competitions, the Manchester United midfielder "barrier" once again proved that he still has irreplaceable value whether in the locker room or on the court.
