Hupu News November 06 Ajax officially announced that John Heitinga will be suspended from his position with immediate effect. His head coaching contract was originally signed until June 30, 2027, but will now be terminated early.

Similarly, the contract of assistant coach Marcel Keizer will also be terminated. Ajax are looking for a new head coach and Fred Grim will temporarily take over Heitinga's job during this period.

Technical Director Alex Cross said: "This is a painful decision. But looking back at the past few months, we must admit that the development of things is very different from what we originally expected. We have seen too little progress and lost many points that should not have been lost. We understand that it takes time for a new coach to lead a team that has undergone personnel changes, so we gave John time, but we believe that now is the time The best option is for the team to appoint another head coach. We hope to announce the candidate of the new head coach as soon as possible. We thank John and Marcel for their efforts and wish Fred good luck, starting with this Sunday's away game at Utrecht."

Alex Kroos has also offered to resign as technical director, but other members of the club's board of directors and the supervisory board have strongly urged him to stay in order to maintain the continuity of the club's work. Cross said: "My contract originally lasted until the end of this season; if the club appoints a new technical director earlier, I will hand over the relevant responsibilities at that time."

This season Ajax has 5 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss in the Eredivisie, ranking fourth, and has lost all 4 rounds of European competition.
