The Serie A Council met this Friday and determined that the 2026-27 Serie A season will start on the weekend of August 22 and 23, 2026, and end on May 30, 2027. The 2026 World Cup will end on July 19, more than a month before the start of Serie A, so players can prepare better.
In addition, according to FIFA regulations, the number of national team match days will be reduced from four to three next season. The two original national team match days in September and October will be combined into one, lasting 16 days. The national team can arrange up to four matches during this period. Leagues in various countries, including Serie A, will suspend games for two consecutive weekends.
