A century-old feud between the two clubs! Only 10 people played for Manchester United and Liverpool at the same time, and Owen is among them.

Football

The duel between Manchester United and Liverpool can be called one of the most popular derbies in world sports - the grudge was laid when the Manchester Canal diverted trade at the port of Liverpool. The two teams fought bloody battles at Old Trafford and Anfield for a century, and both reached the pinnacle of football.

Because of the extreme opposition, there are only 10 players in a century who dare to play for these two mortal enemies at the same time.

1. Tom Chorlton (Liverpool 1904-1912, Manchester United 1912-1915)

He almost retired due to sepsis and typhoid during the Liverpool period. After recovering, he became the team's full-time penalty kicker; after switching to Manchester United, he only played 4 games and left the team sadly.

2. John Sheldon (Manchester United 1910-1913, Liverpool 1913-1921)

He played on the wing for Manchester United for 3 years, scoring 1 goal in 26 games; he broke out after switching to Liverpool, scoring 20 goals in 147 games.

3. Tom Miller (Liverpool 1912-1920, Manchester United 1920-1921)

Scottish forward Liverpool scored 56 goals in 146 games, but his career was interrupted in one battle; after the war, he transferred to Manchester United and still scored 8 goals in 27 games.

4. Fred Hopkin (Manchester United 1919-1921, Liverpool 1921-1929)

Manchester United got into trouble for signing him for "illegal oversalary + transfer fee". He scored 8 goals in 74 games at Manchester United; but he reached his peak at Liverpool: helping the team win 2 league championships in ten years and scoring 12 goals in 360 games.

5. Ted Savage (Liverpool 1931-1937, Manchester United 1937-1938)

Liverpool scored 2 goals in his debut, but it was his only goal at Anfield. After moving to Manchester United, it became even more miserable. He only played 5 games and started drifting in the lower leagues.

6. Allenby Chilton (Liverpool 1938-1939, Manchester United 1939-1955)

"Technical flow" Double material: Liverpool has never played in the first team, but he has become a legendary central defender of Manchester United. After World War II, he stayed with the Red Devils for 9 years and became the core of the defense in 392 games. He was one of the most dominant defenders in team history.

7. Phil Chisnall (Manchester United 1959-1964, Liverpool 1964-1967)

The last player to transfer directly from Manchester United to Liverpool. He couldn't fit into the lineup of Best and Charlton at Manchester United. After switching to Liverpool, he was frightened by Shankly's "devil training" (teammate: "The warm-up hasn't started yet"). In the end, he only played 9 games and scored 2 goals. He is also unique in football because he was coached by Busby, Shankly and England coach Ramsey at the same time.

8. Peter Beardsley (Manchester United 1982-1983, Liverpool 1987-1991)

During the Manchester United period, he was "little transparent" and only played 1 League Cup game; after leaving, he became a legend at Newcastle, scoring 59 goals in 173 games at Liverpool. He even dared to switch to rival Everton in the same city, and played 6 games on loan to Manchester City.

9. Paul Ince (Manchester United 1989-1995, Liverpool 1997-1999)

The first-generation hero of Manchester United's Premier League, he succeeded Robson and dominated the midfield. He also served as England captain and contributed many famous scenes in 281 games. After switching to Liverpool, he became captain, but failed to regain his peak. He also fell out with the coach and switched to Middlesbrough.

10. Michael Owen (Liverpool 1996-2004, Manchester United 2009-2012)

Liverpool's golden boy scored on his debut at the age of 17, won the Ballon d'Or, and scored 158 goals in 297 games; he switched to Manchester United and wore the legendary No. 7, although he only scored 17 goals in 52 games. He had the ball (with many substitutes), but he had the famous scene of beating Manchester City, and he also wore Manchester United red to win the only Premier League championship.

Honorary mention: Sir Matt Busby

He did not play in the first team for Manchester United or Liverpool, but played 125 games for Liverpool; later he became the "godfather" of Manchester United, leading the Red Devils to win 5 league championships and 1 Champions League. He also rebuilt the team after the Munich air disaster and became a legend connecting the two teams.

The experiences of these 10 people, either glorious or sad, have become the most special footnotes in the century-old feud between the Double Red Club.
