Will Reeves be traded by the Lakers? The Clippers Knicks Heat are the most optimistic to get him, and the Warriors rank fourth

Basketball

On May 13, The Ringer famous Bill Simmons said that the Lakers are expected to trade Reeves this summer. The latest odds show that the Knicks, Heat and Clippers are the most optimistic, and the Warriors tied for fourth place.

Bill Simmons said on the podcast: "Reeves will definitely be traded this summer. The rewards the Lakers have received from this deal will make it even more unreasonable for the Mavericks to fail to get him."

Reeves played his best career performance in the regular season, but failed to meet outside expectations in the 2025 NBA playoffs. In the five playoff games against the Timberwolves, Reeves averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists, shooting 41% from the field, 31% from three-point shooting percentage and 85% from free throw percentage. In contrast, he averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game in 73 regular season games, scored 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists, shooting 46% from the field, 38% from three-point shooting percentage and 88% from free throw percentage.

Reeves himself also took the lead in admitting that he had failed the team in the playoffs. "I think we played really badly. The Timberwolves performed very well and deserve recognition, but in the end, we were still not performing at a normal level. Obviously, my performance in this round of series was far from expected, so it's okay to blame me. I don't care, it's because I'm not good enough and failed to help the team win. I really hope I can do more, but it's not the case. I'm struggling."

Reeves' latest next odds are as follows -

1. Knicks, Heat, and Clippers are +400

4. Bucks, The Warriors are both +500

6. Celtics +600

7. Thunder +1000

8. Raptors, Hawks, and Magic are both +1200

11. Hornets +1600

Previously, a reporter reported that sources revealed that the Lakers could provide Reeves with a four-year, $89.2 million early renewal, but the outside world generally believes that Reeves may refuse this contract, and then jump out of the contract to test the waters of the free market in 2026, seeking a contract with an annual salary of about 40 million.
