Tatum shows photos of rehabilitation training! Still holding the largest contract in history, the Celtics will not set a comeback schedule for him

Basketball

On July 6, the NBA entered the offseason. Celtics star Tatum has been continuously updating social media and posted photos of himself in rehabilitation training. Celtics president Stevens said he would not set a comeback schedule for him. After the offseason started this year, no star has been able to sign a newest contract in history than Tatum last year.

In the 2024-25 Eastern Conference Semi-finals G4, Tatum suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the game against the Knicks, which directly led to post-match reimbursement and would almost miss the 2025-26 season. The Celtics were eliminated 4-2 by the Knicks and missed the title. Tatum underwent surgery immediately and then started a long recovery period.

Earlier today, Tatum updated his social media, posting a back of his rehabilitation training and wrote: "Keep sticking with it, JT." From the picture, you can see Tatum wearing protective boots and undergoing related rehabilitation training. In fact, a few days ago, Tatum posted photos of himself recovering his strength on social media. Although he was still far from his comeback, Tatum has been recovering at the Celtic Training Hall.

When talking about Tatum's situation, Celtics president Stevens said: "We did not set a comeback schedule for him, nor did we set such a timeline. For a long time, we would not set a expected comeback schedule for him, and Tatum is in a gradual recovery stage. In fact, his recovery is progressing very well, but I don't know what this means for his specific time to return to the field. We will negotiate with him and all the people involved to make sure that when he returns to the field, he is fully ready and fully healthy. That's our priority."

Last summer, Tatum signed a five-year, $314 million contract extension with the Celtics. This summer, the league has born many big contracts, including a four-year, $285 million super maximum salary renewal reached by Alexander and the Thunder. Although Alexander surpasses Tatum to become the highest annual salary player in NBA history, the contract with the largest total amount in history is still maintained by Tatum.

Do you think Tatum can still restore his previous performance and strength after his comeback? Welcome to give your opinions in the comment section.
