Shams: Clippers former player Kofi joins the Bucks with one-year contract

Basketball

According to famous reporter Shams, the Bucks will sign a one-year contract with Amir Kofi. Bucks reporter Eric Nehm further explained in another report that Kofi's contract is a training camp contract.

Coffey was not selected in the 2019 draft and then signed a two-way contract with the Clippers. He played for three seasons with the Clippers and was converted to a standard contract in 2022. So far, Kofi has spent his entire NBA career with the Clippers, averaging 6.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 323 games (67 starts), shooting 45.5% from the field and 38.4% from three-pointers.

Last year, he became a key contributor to the Clippers, starting 13 times in 72 games, averaging a career-high 9.7 points per game. During his time with the Clippers, his role fluctuated slightly: he received a lot of playing time in the 2021-22 season and 2024-25 season (including 30 starts in the 2021-22 season), but his playing time in the 2022-23 season was reduced.

Ultimately, the Clippers decided not to renew his contract, which made him one of the players to sign in the free market. The Bucks are trying to give the 28-year-old winger a chance to bring him to training camp. The Bucks currently have a complete 15-man roster, and Coffey is not eligible to sign a two-way contract. However, Andre Jackson Jr.'s salary in the new season is only $800,000, the security part, so if Coffey wants to make it to the opening roster, Jackson will be his direct competitor for the time being.
