Reeves potential trading plan is exchanged for two Jazz players, but the deal may not be good enough
According to US sports media F/W reporter Sidante Gupta. Buha recently talked about Rivers' deal scheme, which includes Kessler and Sexton from the Jazz, which, while it meets the needs of the Lakers, may not be good enough. The Lakers may find themselves making several big deals this offseason, including even their young star Reeves. However, in an interview with "Buha 's Block", Lakers insider Buha talked about how the potential trading plan with the Jazz can solve the Lakers' problems, but it may still not be enough for the Purple Gold. The idea of having Reeves as part of any trade deal has become a topic of this offseason. Given his current contract, the value the Lakers defender brings to the court is seriously underestimated. If there is a chance to test free agents next summer, the Lakers have a chance to lose him.
This coincidentally also makes the defender the most valuable bargaining chip for their trading. Due to his contract, it is difficult to determine a suitable asking price for him. With that in mind, Buha has obtained a potential trade deal from a fan that could solve some of the Lakers’ biggest problems during the offseason.
Lakers get: Kessler, Sexton, two second-round picks
Jazz get: Rivers, Kneckett, Klebel, cancel protection for 2027 first-round picks, 2028 draft pick exchange
Buha passes the problem to the guest group members Anthony Irving, who reacted to the deal and shared: "I don't think the Lakers will do that. I just think Kessler isn't enough to sacrifice Rivers in the Lakers' eyes. Every time I'm asked about Kessler, I mention another complication of Kessler, the Jazz thinks trading Kessler to the Lakers will make their own draft capital worse in the long run. You gave Luca a very good center next to him and he can prevent the Lakers from fully bottoming out unless one or two of them get injured. I just don't think both teams will reach an agreement on his deal." Irving's opinion on this particular deal is certainly interesting. Kessler's current rotation with the Lakers will be a match made in heaven. The Jazz big man averaged 11.1 points and 12.2 rebounds last season and averaged 2.4 blocks per game. At 7 feet tall and strong, he will immediately upgrade Hayes while also being able to partner with Doncic perfectly. Including Sexton in this deal, along with two second-rounders, can be seen as an effort to make the pot sweeter. Sexton is a hardworking, hard-working defender who brings great two-way capabilities to the team. His offensive output matches his defensive intensity, averaging 18.4 points and 4.2 assists last season, while shooting 48.0% from the field and 40.6% from outside the 3-point line. Another factor is that his contract will expire next season.
While these two will be a solid addition to the Purple Gold team, it makes sense to think that this is not enough for Reeves. Last season, the 26-year-old is literally the third star of the Lakers. In a short time, Reeves climbed among the league's defenders and established himself as a legitimate offensive threat. His skills and potential have been weighed by many teams, so he is regarded as a potential top-level player. The Lakers' deal proposal for the acquisition of Kessler has been formulated, but no mention of the Lakers' defender. While the Jazz also have a legitimate reason to give up the deal, if the Purple and Gold Army are going to part ways with their young stars, they certainly need more.
Although the Lakers value their stars, one thing is important: Reeves is not untouchable. This is just a matter of demand being met, and in this case, more favorable will help facilitate this initiative. Based on the foundation laid by previous trade proposals, the Jazz needed some additions to lure the Lakers to part ways with Reeves. One suggestion is to include Marca in the trading scope. The Purple Gold Legion will also be asked to make some supplements to help absorb the caps brought by the Markkanin contract. This may have them sent out of Hachimura. Markkanen's joining the Lakers will serve as the team's overall star strength and their offensive integrity.
