Mobley selects five greatest left-handed players in NBA history in his mind

Basketball

According to Gautam Variel, a columnist of US sports media F/W. Katino Mobley was one of the best left-handed players in the NBA in the 2000s, and he listed five of the greatest left-handed men of the league’s history on the All The Smoke podcast. Mobley went with a few big names, but did miss it, which is arguably the biggest of them. “James Harden, Chris Mullin, Manu Ginobili, Nick Van Exel…I mean, of course, David Robinson,” Mobri said.

Of course, the notable exception here is the great Bill Russell. Many people don’t even realize Russell is left-handed, though, and maybe Mobri doesn’t know either. Russell won a record 11 NBA championships and won five MVP awards. He has become one of the greatest players of all time. Although Russell was left out, it was still a solid list.

James Harden is the only active player among the top five. Harden averaged 24.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game in his career. Along the way, he won one MVP, three scoring kings and two assist kings. Harden has also been selected for 11 All-Stars and 8 All-NBA rosters.

As for Chris Mullin, he spent 16 seasons in the NBA, averaging 18.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. Mullin never won any major honors, but did make it to the All-Star five times and the All-NBA roster four times.

Meanwhile, Manu Ginobili is one of the greatest international players in NBA history, averaging 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks in his career. Ginobili won four championships while also being selected for two All-Stars and two All-NBA rosters.

Nick Van Exel is probably the most surprising player here, because he was never a real big star in the NBA. Exel's NBA career is still outstanding, averaging 14.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks in 13 seasons. He was selected for an All-Star roster in 1998.

Finally, let's talk about David Robinson, who is obvious here. Robinson averaged 21.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 3.0 blocks in his career. He won two titles, one MVP, one DPOY and one scoring title. Robinson also made the All-Star 10, All-NBA 10, and All-Defensive Team 8.

As for some other famous players who have good reasons to make the top five, I think of Bosh, Willis Reed, Bob Rannier, Dave Coins, Addis Gilmer and Knight Archibalt. Who are the 5 greatest left-handed players in your heart?
