Magic refuses to execute the two-player team option, retain Bird s right or re-signs to Wagner and Hugstein

Basketball

According to famous reporter Shams, the Orlando Magic will refuse to execute the team options of Moritz Wagner ($11 million) and Caleb Hustaine ($2.1 million) to make the two players fully free agents. But the Magic retained Bird rights for the two players, meaning the team still has the potential to re-sign them. After the transaction was obtained by Bain, this operation allowed the magic to retain some financial flexibility.

Moritz Wagner has played for the Magic for more than five seasons, and he averaged 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the team, with a three-point shooting percentage of 32.9%. Moritz Wagner's 2024-25 season ended early due to a torn ACL in January and is still recovering.

Hurstein is the 32nd overall pick in the 2022 draft. In the Magic's three seasons, he went in and out of the rotation lineup. He played 58 games last season, averaged 13.6 minutes per game, and averaged 4.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.1 blocks per game.
