Kidd reveals how he plans to use Flagg in the summer league opener against the Lakers

According to Nico Martinez, a contributor to US sports media F/W. The Dallas Mavericks have grand plans for their No. 1 pick Flag. After this week’s NBA draft, head coach Jason Kidd revealed Flag’s strategy, and his career will begin next month in the NBA Summer League. His first game will be against the Lakers, the same team that Doncic now calls home.

"Early expected Flag would play in the first two summer league games in Dallas: against the Lakers before San Antonio on July 10," Markstan reported. Although Flag was born a small forward, Kidd intends to try to make him a point guard early on, filling in the role left behind by Kyrie Irving after an injury at the end of the season. “I want him to be the point guard,” Jason Kidd said in a chat with Stan. "I'm so happy to give him the ball against the Lakers and see what happens."

Frager has been the first choice for months, so it's no surprise that the Dallas Mavericks chose him immediately. In his only season at Duke, he was a star who averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, shooting 48.1% from the field. At 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds, he is an ideal size on the wings, and his technology has had an impact on both ends of the floor.

In Dallas, he appears to be primarily used as a point guard, meaning he will seek to leverage his passing and organizing abilities. Fortunately, the Mavericks have a solid core and a roster that should be ready to help him succeed from the start. It may take a long time for Cooper to reach his maximum potential at 18, but he can rely on veterans like Davis and Thompson until he is ready to take power. With all the pressure in the world on his shoulders, Flag is living up to fans’ expectations and he is facing some serious pressure that could hinder his NBA trajectory.

All he can do now is follow the Mavericks and learn from his mistakes one by one at a time. The initial pain of growth can be tough, but if he can stand the worst, he has the opportunity to accomplish something special. The first taste of this new start begins on July 10, when both teams will debut in the summer league. It will be the first time the Lakers and Mavericks have had a fight since April, when Dallas lost 13 points at home.

Entering next season, both teams are in a state of uncertainty about their position. With the Lakers disappointing in the playoffs, they hope to take action this summer to maximize their chances. Meanwhile, the Mavericks choose to develop from within as they add young talents to the ranks. For Flag, he was caught in this fierce cold war, and as the Mavericks hope to justify the Luca deal, it only puts more pressure on Cooper. So far, he responded to the call like a champion, and the Mavericks saw something great for his future.
