Good Brothers, JR Smith talks about the true feelings of the battle between James and Cameron Anthony

Former New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers player JR Smith dissected his views on the competition between LeBron James and Cameron Anthony.

Because Cameron Anthony and LeBron James were two positions away in the 2003 draft, they were often compared in their careers. These two players, who have been selected for many years, also had many confrontations when they played for the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2010s. James and Anthony are opponents on the court, but outside the court, they have a deep friendship.

JR Smith, one of the few players who have the chance to play with the two superstars, dissects his views on the two superstars. Smith interacted with Anthony on his show "7pm Brooklyn" and talked about his 2015 deal to the Knicks to the Cavaliers. The media asked Smith a lot of questions about the differences between them as players and leaders.

"The most crazy thing is to face a whole new environment. Then, you know, the media always tries to put the two of us against each other. I can't be both his player (Anthony) and his player (James)." Smith said of the media's treatment of him in Cleveland.

"First of all, we're all cool. Now... it's like you cut off your left hand and keep your right hand. I've played with both of them, and they're both my good brothers. Now I have to answer some questions like, what kind of leader Anthony is, and what kind of leader LeBron is. What's the difference between them? Everyone has their own unique way of leadership."

Although this deal put Smith in trouble in front of the media, it paid off in the end. In 2016, he and James led the Cavaliers to defeat the Golden State Warriors and won the championship. In 2020, they joined forces again and led the Los Angeles Lakers to win the championship again.

Smith had both advantages, playing with Anthony in the 2012-13 season and winning the championship with James. However, for him, both players are equally outstanding as teammates and friends.
