Gloves: Alexander hasn t reached Kobe s level & he may never be himself

Basketball

June 15th, former NBA star Gary Payton was a guest on an interview program today, during which he talked about Thunder star Alexander and Lakers legend Kobe.

When guest Luway compared Alexander to Kobe, Payton said: "He is not like Kobe at all. Kobe has only one, that's all. Don't compare anyone to Kobe, especially a person like Kobe Bryant. Let the SGA be himself. I don't think he has reached Kobe's level, I don't think he will never be Kobe. He is a great basketball player, but don't worry. He won't be another Kobe."

What really caught Luway's attention was that in the first two games of the Finals, the Thunder stars scored 38 points and 34 points respectively. His total score of 72 points was the highest score for any player in the first two finals, surpassing Iverson's 71 points in 2001. Despite this, Payton still doesn't think it's enough to compare Alexander with Kobe.

"Bryant is a completely different beast. I just want to tell you. We can compare Jordan and Kobe because Kobe is trying to be someone like Jordan," the Hall of Famer added.

Kobe is Alexander's favorite player. Although Alexander did not imitate Kobe like Kobe imitating Michael Jordan, the Lakers legend occupies a special place in his heart. Alexander once said in an interview after G1: "Bryant is probably my favorite player of all time. I have never had the chance to meet him. His influence is huge because he is a contender and basketball player. Hopefully one day I can get closer to his level."
