Cole: Bobo is one of the most important people in my life. There are many reasons why he surpasses basketball.
According to previous reports, Popovich will no longer serve as the head coach of the Spurs and will transform into a full-time position as the team president. Before the game, Warriors head coach Steve Cole talked about Popovich in an interview with reporters, and Xiaoba organized some of his remarks.
Reporter: Steve, when did you prepare this T-shirt (as shown in the picture above)?
Cole: Raymond (Warriors Public Relations Director) just has it at hand. Before I started, I wanted to say that Bobo would definitely lose his T-shirt when he saw it, and he would definitely get mad at saying that we were a "soft helpless team??" (laughs) - I just want to express my gratitude to the Spurs first, thanking them for everything they mean to me in my career.
I know today was a very emotional day for the Spurs, and so for the entire NBA. The number of people affected by Bobo and the number of coaches trained are really incredible. But Bobo is one of the most important people in my life for me, not just because of basketball, but also because of many reasons that surpass basketball.
Today is a sad day, but I also find it an inspiring moment. I think it was a natural transition for him and a good time for him to enter the next stage at the organizational level. I also think this will give him some space and time to recover from his physical problems.
So today I feel very complicated, more about my love for Bobo, my empathy for everything he has experienced, my feelings for the Spurs - everything. It was a very, very emotional day for everyone involved.
So, thank you, Bobo.
I will take off this T-shirt later.
Love you, see you soon.
