Cole admits Warriors try to reintroduce Kevin Durant in the season
According to US sports media F/W contributor Sidante Gupta. Kevin Durant spent the most successful years of his career with the Golden State Warriors. Although these days are a thing of the past, Steve Cole shares that the team is trying to reintroduce the forward in the 2025 season. The Golden State Warriors' dynasty was at its peak when Kevin Durant became part of the team's core. While glorious days are a thing of the past, Warriors head coach Steve Cole shared that the team is trying to operate by trading the forward in the 2025 season. Speaking on the Tom Tom Tolbert Show, he said: "We did nothing. We are at some point in the season and you can feel that we are about to fall out of the play-offs. We have a winning rate of less than 50%, and it's been long enough that nothing will work." Cole said these words in the incident of getting Butler through a trade with the Miami Heat.
However, he made it clear that the team had other options, saying, "I think we have good evidence that we were trying to get Kevin Durant. But that didn't happen. Mike just called me and said, 'Hey, I think we're going to trade Butler. I'm going to guarantee him. I've worked with him in Chicago for three years. This guy is a trusted player in basketball."

Durant was certainly interesting to be the Warriors' goal in the early stages of the regular season. The Golden State Warriors look like a pretty mediocre team before the trade deadline as they hover in the play-offs in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, Durant has had a tough time with Phoenix, as the Suns look like the shadow of the team they expect. Unfortunately, the reunion did not happen. In many ways, it may never happen, given the damage caused after Durant left. Anyway, the idea is still interesting, as the striker may be looking for a new home in the summer.
Butler's joining makes Golden State Warriors a playoff contender. Butler's strength on both ends of the offense and defense has created miracles for the team, with special emphasis on his defense. However, Cole hilariously gave the striker his flowers, but with some limitations. Speaking on the Tom Tom Tolbert Show, he said: "Jimmy is a good defender, but he is not Dennis Rodman. But to me, we're like becoming a great defense because Jimmy controls the game offensively, which means we've been building our defense in the half."

Cole's former teammate Dennis Rodman is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players of all time. Although Butler is a great defender, it is fair to the head coach draw the line there. Butler remains an indispensable factor in the Warriors' future plans. The Golden State Warriors are centered on Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, who hope to make relevant moves and roster upgrades to support their stars in their battle for the championship next season. What kind of lineup adjustment do you think the Warriors will make during the offseason?
