Ayton said: He is ready to win the championship after signing with the Lakers
According to US sports media F/W reporter Nico Martinez. In his first public interview after being traded, NBA big man DeAndre Ayton talked about his transfer to Los Angeles. In his opening remarks to the media, Ayton confirmed that the Lakers are going all out to pursue the championship. “I want to win and be part of the victory,” Ayton said. “We want to win the championship now.” Ayton, 26, spent a dull time in Portland and then came to the Lakers, who bought out his contract this summer. The former No. 1 pick hasn't met expectations yet, but he's eager to prove the haters wrong one game at a time. “It makes me energetic,” Ayton said of the haters. "It totally gave me motivation. I've long wanted to express a different type of driving force. I think it's the perfect time. You know, in the Purple Gold Legion, it's a platform that I can't escape. You know, I can show who I really am, just around some great people, really emphasize that. I have a lot of fuel in me to prove that the whole world is wrong." Ayton has been working hard to improve his work ethics and motivation in the past, but he said he's ready to meet the standards set by the great Lakers center before. He has developed a close relationship with Shaq and he looks forward to developing his chemistry with Doncic. “Luca is a once-in-a-lifetime player and I’m so happy to be his teammate,” Ayton said. "I heard about his condition and he was super excited. I was finally happy to be on his side." It felt like playing a video game.
The Lakers are desperately in need of a center after trading Davis (and returning to Mark Williams). While Ayton wasn't their first choice, they were happy with the acquisition as he was one of the best centers still available at the time. He averaged 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in his career, and he has the skills and talent to make a difference in the backcourt. At 7-foot-0 and 250 pounds, he is also big enough to help the Lakers against bigger teams like the Timberwolves, Nuggets and Thunder.
In addition, with Doncic and James, Ayton will usher in his best season yet. Lakers stars know how to prepare for teammates, and Ayton will be able to enjoy high balls and frequent passes in the paint area. Despite his controversial background, the Lakers are excited about having Ayton, and head coach Redick believes he can make a plan that allows the seven-year-old deep league veteran to reach its maximum potential. The Lakers' performance and position in the West will depend largely on Ayton and whether he can face the challenge.
On the surface, the young big man is ready to achieve great things for the Lakers, which may be the beginning of his own and his team's prosperity era. Even if many Hure fans dislike this signing, Ayton can increase morale by himself and the team. Regardless of whether the professional career of the court has really improved, at least it can give the team a positive signal off the court and other aspects. This is enough to show that he regards his Lakers career as his best platform from 0 to 1. Let's wait and see!
