5 players + 3 first rounds, the Pacers can trade Morant and GG Jackson's plan during the offseason, forming an excellent defender combination

Indiana Pacers are currently in strong momentum, but if they can trade Ja Morant of the Grizzlies in the offseason, their record may be even better. The Indiana Pacers had one of the strongest offenses in NBA history in the 2023-24 season and unexpectedly made it to the Eastern Conference Finals with this team. This year, the team followed the same tactics and beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Can the team increase offensive firepower in some way? One trade that the team can consider during the offseason is trading Ja Morant.

The Memphis Grizzlies are about to usher in change, and the sacking of head coach Taylor Jenkins is proof of it. So, what will the Morant-Indiana trade look like?

Pacers' proposal to trade Morant

Pacers get: Morant, GG Jackson

Grizzlies get: T.J. McConnell, Aaron Nesmith, Tony Bradley, Ben Shepard, Jerras Walker, 2028 first-round draft pick, 2030 first-round draft pick swap

At first glance, the Pacers' trading Morant seems unnecessary. Not only did they lead 1-0 against the Cavaliers in the second round, but the team's best player, Torius Halliburton, played in the same position as Morant. While both of them play point guards, they can actually share the space on the court well.

First, Halliburton has experience playing side by side with other point guards, and both he and Darron Fox worked with the Kings before the Kings traded Halliburton.

In addition, Morant and Halliburton have different skill sets that complement each other well. Morant is a fast attack breakthrough player with amazing athletic ability, but his shooting skills are slightly insufficient and his size is slightly inferior. Halliburton is a tall defender who can hit jump shots and is an excellent passer.

The two defenders are the core of their respective offenses, so the defense will focus most of their attention when making a game plan. However, if they share a backcourt, the opposing team will be difficult to deal with. If Morant joins, Indiana's already very good offense will be even more terrifying, and they can complete the deal without sacrificing any frontline players. The team even got blocked Jackson in this deal. Jackson averaged 14.6 points per game in his rookie season, with an excellent performance, but injuries limited his performance in the second season. The product from the University of South Carolina is incredible and may be back on track next season. Will the Grizzlies trade Ja Morant? After the Grizzlies fired Jenkins, rumors spread out, suggesting that Morant might leave soon. However, even after the first round out, it now appears that the Grizzlies will retain the two-time All-Star.

Morant's data has been declining in the past two seasons. The point guard has played only nine games last season due to injuries and bans, and his on-field performance seems to have regressed this year. Additionally, Morant's maturity is again questioned due to his insistence on using gun/violence-related celebration moves.

However, the point guard has rebounded in the final months of the season and now he is expected to get back on track next season and move towards the All-Star goal. Therefore, the Grizzlies would better keep Morant than trade him.

Despite the disappointing performance of the team this season, they are still in the top two in the league twice in recent years, and the core players are still young and growing. Under Morant, the Grizzlies are still able to succeed and they should take the necessary steps to complement the players who can complement the point guard.
